Suggested EIPS Test Protocol for a
1200x1000mm, Rackable, Full 4 way entry Pallet
for International Use
(word version)
I. Physical Properties
Pallet Size | 1200x1000mm |
Top deck coverage | 60% minimum |
Bottom deck coverage | 35% minimum |
Vertical clearance under top deck | 95 mm minimum |
156 mm maximum | |
Horizontal clearance | |
Maximum width of center posts or stringers | 160 mm (6.3 in.) |
Minimum width between outer posts or stringers | 720 mm (28.3 in.) |
Maximum height | 165 mm (6.5 in.) |
Maximum weight | 22 kg (50 lbs.) |
Fasteners, if needed, should conform to the minimum quality guidelines in ASME MH1, Part 3. |
II. Racking Performance
Must safely support a 1000-pound load when racked across the length and racked across the width, according to the procedures outlined in ASTM D1185. The suggested load is corrugated boxes, 6 boxes per layer, 5 layers high. Pallet deflection should not exceed 0.50 inches with this load after the required test period.
III. Stacking Performance
Must safely support a 1000-pound load per pallet when stacked up to 3 loaded pallets high, according to the procedures outlined in ASTM D1185. The suggested load is corrugated boxes, 6 boxes per layer, 5 layers high. Deck deflection should not exceed 0.25 inches with this load after the required test period.
IV. Conveyor Performance
Must safely support a 1000-pound load when supported across the length and across the width on chain conveyors located midway between the posts or stringers, according to the procedures outlined in ASTM D1185. The suggested load is corrugated boxes, 6 boxes per layer, 5 layers high. Pallet bottom deck deflection should not exceed 0.25 inches with this load after the required test period.
V. Coefficient of Friction
The minimum suggested Static COF is 0.40, as measured on the following 4 pallet surfaces: Top Deck with corrugated boxes, Underneath top deck on steel forktines, Bottom deck on steel surface, and empty Pallet on empty Pallet (stacked).
VI. Relative Durability
Level I (one way pallets)
Corner Drop: | 3 drops from 40" height |
Tine Tip Impacts on Block or Stringer Ends | 3 impacts at 6 inches |
Tine Heel Impacts on Lead Edges | 3 impacts at 24 inches |
Level II (returnable pallets)
Corner Drop: | 6 drops from 40" height |
Tine Tip Impacts on Block or Stringer Ends | 3 impacts at 12 inches |
Tine Heel Impacts on Lead Edges | 3 impacts at 48 inches |
Pallets tested for durability according to the procedures outlined in ASTM D1185. Suggested load is 1000 pounds of deadload (corrugated boxes not necessary). Pallets should pass each level without structural damage or more than 1.5% diagonal deformation. |
