CHEP

Executives then gave a presentation on their programs including various pallet designs they have available. Their charts will soon be posted to the website for reference. Paul Russell reported that one division of HP was using CHEP presently with good success for a retail channel and was looking to expand that to other areas. The committee did express some concerns about how to manage the system considering that not all of our customers would be part of the CHEP system. Also, CHEP operates in about 30 countries whereas many of us operate in over 100 countries. CHEP did have some 48x40 as well as 1200x1000 and 1200 x 800 pallets (in both wood and plastic) to offer. They did confirm the global trend towards block style pallets even in the US. If a mutually beneficial arrangement could be made for our industry, they would consider a custom pallet for us which is lighter in weight than their current offerings.
